Volunteer Awards 2006
CAMP Volunteer Awards 2006CAMP recognizes and appreciates the valuable contributions of all who help make CAMP a successful club. In response, a little over a year ago CAMP started a volunteer recognition program to recognize volunteers for a job well done whether it was big or small. To continue that tradition CAMP recognized several special volunteers that helped make CAMP an award winning club in Public Service, Advertising Education and Diversity.

When I first told this volunteer that we wanted to recognize her for her CAMP support, she was shocked and honored. In fact she wasn’t even sure what she had done. That is why Brenda Clark of Great Southern Publisher is a perfect example of how a little goes a long way in volunteering. Brenda, on a few occasions helped membership chairman, Gael Sansbury with member nametags and sold raffle tickets during our monthly luncheons. So remember, you don’t have to work yourself to death to help out. Brenda, thanks for taking time to help!

CAMP is lucky to have recruited a great creative mind as a volunteer. Starting with the ADDY Awards judging, the legendary Tom Collins of Collins + Co. Advertising/ Design volunteer his services for several committees last year. He jumped on board with the fundraising committee to help design collateral for the Band-Aid for Autism Fundraiser and his lent his expertise during the HGTC student job fair. Tom, we appreciate everything you have done!

Even though she is permanently attached to her cell phone doesn’t mean that Tamika Gore from The Sun News can’t get her volunteer on! Just like Matt, I was blessed with Tamika’s beautiful face at every CAMP event. We even recruited her to represent CAMP at the Third District Conference were she was one of the top virgins! Tamika, girl,we appreciation you!

One of our Newbies, Matt Hewitt of The Sun News stepped up his volunteer game this past year by volunteering for multiple committees! It seemed everywhere I looked Matt was there helping. I know he helped with the Fundraising, networking, diversity and Addy committees but I am probably missing something. So Matt, thank you so much for all you have done this past year.

If you were to ask Missy Davisson, CAMP’s Fundraising Chairperson, who was her volunteer extraordinary, she’d say Carol McGraw of BOB FM 104.9. Carol was Missy’s right hand man during the CAMP yard sale, Band-Aid fundraiser and god knows what else! I do know she was up at like 4 am getting ready for the yard sale this past year! Thank you, Carol, for all you have done and all that we know you will do!

For a few years now, we have been blessed to have the volunteer dedication of Abby Pinder of Weekly Surge. Not only did she help design the inside of the CAMP public service brochure, she volunteered her time for the ADDY Awards. Thank you very much for years of volunteer work and we hope that you continue to support CAMP!

In all my years with CAMP, I can’t think of anyone who has been as active, supportive and dedicated to CAMP as past Silver Medalist receiptant Diane Stokes of Stages Video has been over many years. Considered as one of the oldies, but FAR from old, Diane has supported CAMP in all aspects including Silver Medal Awards, membership recruitment, retention and feedback, fundraising, public service and ADDY Awards. This small trophy is only a tiny token of our appreciation of you! Thank you Diane.

A veteran ad club supporter and past Third District Governor, Myra Laughter of Traffic Patrol, has been a great supporter of CAMP when it came to the ADDY awards. Many times CAMP has called upon Myra to promote the ADDY awards during the radio traffic report, which she has done with great enthusiasm and kindness. So Myra, thank for everything you do to help promote CAMP!

Whether she was helping design creative for CAMP’s Multi-Media Public Service campaign or sharing her expertise for a one-on-one portfolio review at Francis Marion University, Shannon Jordan of Next Media Outdoor has been very supportive for the past couple of years. Thank you Shannon!
As Shannon’s better half, we wanted to recognize Michael Jordan for his interviewing skills with South by Southeast. These interviews helped put together the multi-media public service campaign. Come on up Michael! Thank you for your help.

In time of ADDY Award trouble we called upon our superman Jeff Martin. If Jeff had not leaped tall buildings and stopped speeding bullets with his TEETH, the ADDY Awards presentation would have not taken place! And as if that wasn’t enough, Jeff stepped in again to share his expertise during the HGTC Job Fair. Thanks Superman!

The next volunteer is a Past CAMP President, Past Third District Governor and past Silver Medalist! Jim Sellers of the Seller's Group has been a volunteer for CAMP since forever! Most recently, he volunteered his expertise for a one-on-one with Coastal Carolina University Students for the Advertising Education committee. Thanks Jim for all that you do for CAMP!

Stephanie Webster of Burroughs & Chapin Real Estate went above the call of duty last year for her volunteer work with many CAMP committees including Fundraising, Networking, Diversity and ADDYs. Stephanie thank you for all your work!

Last year, we tried several times to honor the volunteer veteran Paula Beckham of The Sun News. Unfortunately, every time we tried for some reason she had disappeared! So we got her right were we want her now! Paula, Thank you volunteering for many CAMP committees including Fundraising, Networking, Diversity and the ADDYs this year and years past!

Thanks to all the committee chairman and committee members for their hard work through out the year.
Thank you to everyone that takes a little or a lot of their time and use it to volunteer for CAMP. We ARE the strongest ad club in South Carolina and possibly our District. We have been recognized by the American Advertising Federation as Division 4 Club of the Year multiple times and we have won awards in programs, communications, membership, club management, public service, advertising education, government relations, and diversity! And CAMP could NOT be what it is today if it wasn’t for members like you and volunteers like you!Thank You!
