Coastal Advertising and Marketing Professionals of Myrtle Beach (CAMP) is looking for a new design for our website and has opened a Call for Student Entries for the MBCAMP.COM website design competition.
This competition gives area college students the opportunity to submit their web design ideas to our ad club for judging by a professional panel of marketing and advertising experts from the CAMP market area (Florence, Myrtle Beach, Georgetown and Wilmington, NC).
Entries will be judged based on site functionality, overall design and practicality. The competition is open to students who are currently majoring in digital arts, web design, computer science or any relative discipline.
The winning entry will receive:
• $100.00 Cash Prize
• Two tickets for the ADDY Awards Show to be held in February 10, 2007 at Planet Hollywood in Myrtle Beach
• Winning Design Submission into the 2007 ADDY Awards Student Competition
• Winner/School Recognition at CAMP’s February 2007 Monthly Luncheon held at Dunes Beach and Golf Club in Myrtle Beach
• A one-year CAMP Student Membership

Important Student Information
Site User Profile:
Website is accessed and utilized by a targeted audience of marketing, advertising and public relations industry professionals and ad club members as well as students and students members who are studying or majoring in marketing, advertising and public relations at area high schools and colleges. This audience uses the site as a resource for activities that include, but that are not limited to, networking, advertising education, local and national club programs, ad club public service efforts, and information on club events, club members and membership, job and career placement, and government issues affecting the ad club.
Entry Requirements:
Students are asked to submit as many designs as they wish into the competition according to the following criteria:
Each entry package should include:
• A home page
• One lower level page
The following design elements should be incorporated:
• Primary site navigation: Home, About Us, Membership, Programs, Ad Education, Public Service, Government Relations, Careers, Advertise With Us, Photo Gallery
• Secondary site navigation (footer links): privacy policy, club address, links, contact us
• Incorporate a space for a 250 x 250 web banner
Additional considerations should be given to the incorporation of a blog or a message board to the site.
Students are required to submit a written description of the rationale behind the functionality, use of animation, content and practicality of the site. Entries need to be placed on a disc with all files (photoshop, Word, etc.), fonts and any other ad elements that will be necessary for judging. Please include 2 hard copies of the entry in your package along with a website entry form for each submission.
Photoshop files need to be layered document(s) for home page and lower level design. Home page and lower level page design should not exceed 1000 pixels wide.
Regarding Content: Versions of the local and national ad club logos that should be used on the site can be downloaded from the CAMP website at www.mbcamp.com.The mission statement for CAMP is shown below. This content should also be included on your site. It is up to the designer as to how and where information should be placed on the site. All other content or suggestions on content, navigation or special features are solely up to the creative mind of the designer. Please include reasoning for your suggestions in the website rationale description.
Camp Mission Statement: The purpose of CAMP shall be to provide and promote a better understanding of the functions of advertising and of its values; to apply these skills, creativity and energy of the advertising industry whenever it is needed to help social problems; to advocate the standards of advertising through a voluntary program of self regulation; to promote good fellowship and free exchange of ideas.CAMP is a non-profit organization comprised of advertising, marketing and public relations professionals. Our membership area spans Florence, Georgetown and Myrtle Beach, SC and Wilmington, North Carolina.

Students can access other regional and national ad club websites for examples of what other organizations in the AAF are displaying online. CAMP is a member of the Third District (http://main.nc.us/3rdaaf/) which includes ad clubs in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. We encourage you to visit both sites to see what other ad clubs are doing in order to understand the functionality and practicality is needed in the design that you will create.

CAMP has collaborated with Intellistrand of Myrtle Beach to organize and conduct this competition. Intellistrand will oversee the overall programming of the final site design and will work closely with the winning student and our organization to make sure that the site design’s functionality comes to life as intended. Judging will be conducted by a panel that will be consist of members of the board of directors of CAMP, staff of Intellistrand and select judges from the marketing and advertising community.
