Internship / Mentoring / Shadowing Programs
Are you interested in getting a head start on your career BEFORE you graduate?
Student internships are an excellent way for students to gain experience in a work atmosphere while earning school credit and some pay. AAF-Coastal Carolinas supports interns through our internship program -- bringing together advertising student interns and Myrtle Beach area employers. AAF-Coastal Carolinas offers the following programs:
AAF-CC Shadowing Program - involves a professional hosting a student in their workplace for a day or more to better acquaint them with their career.??
AAF-CC Peer Mentoring Program - a student is teamed with a professional in their interested line of study. The mentor will be available for things such as career related advice, tips on improving their resume, contacts in the field, and networking opportunities.?
AAF-CC Internship Program - a local business allows a student to work in their company to gain hands on experience. Positions are open upon availability and are subject to being paid or unpaid.
AAF-CC Minority Internship Program - Third District AAF and Bassett Printing have developed a Minority Internship Program open to student in grades 7-11. This Internship Program which will provide one local minority student an internship that introduces him or her to the myriad job opportunities in our field and a small scholarship fund for each student.
This unique internship would take two parts. The first would be a whirlwind introduction to the many opportunities in our business. During the first week, students will find themselves in a new environment each day. They might get to see firsthand how a TV station, a newspaper, an advertising agency, a radio station, or a print shop operates. From these experiences, a student will choose one (or perhaps two) industries to pursue further for an additional week, delving deeper and learning more about a chosen field.
The selected student will be awarded $500 to cover expenses, transportation, meals during the internship term and possibly start a college scholarship with any remaining funds.
Our Diversity Chair will distribute applications to guidance counselors throughout Florence, Georgetown, Myrtle Beach, Brunswick and Wilmington. The application and parent consent form can also be downloaded from this web site. The Internship Program is open to students in grades 7-11 who attend school in the greater Florence, Georgetown, Myrtle Beach (SC), Brunswick and Wilmington (NC) areas.
